Welcome to Year 5 Class page.
Term 1 kicked off with an exciting balloon-powered rocket design competition with Year 6 linked to our topic 'To Infinity and Beyond'. This was a great afternoon and we all enjoyed making and testing the rockets, to see whose went the furthest, and discussing why this was.
Also linked to our topic, Year 5 have been learning how to use different colours, materials and textures to create collages which represent different feelings and emotions. You can see some excellent examples of these on our picture gallery!
We have also been learning about the Sun, Earth and Moon, how we get night and day, how light travels in straight lines and also how we see things.

Currently PE days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday but please ensure that your child has their PE kit and trainers in school every day.
Please could we also remind you that all jewellery should removed for PE lessons.
Y5 literacy homework (spelling and curriculum based piece) will normally be given out on a Monday on a two weekly basis. These should be handed in on the Friday of the second week. The spelling work provided will encourage children to learn strategies by understanding spelling patterns.
'Superspellers' spellings will also be allocated weekly for children to practise. Please ensure that your child uses the 'Look, cover, write, check' method to learn them.
Y5 Maths homework is given out weekly on a Monday via the 'My Maths' webpage.
