Year 6 took part in a Learning Disability awareness workshop today. Guest speakers came in to explain to them what life is like with a learning disability and also how the children can help when communicating. They played some games which highlighted how everyone processes information differently - even when we all have the same instructions - and also learnt some basic Makaton signs.
Can you guess what they children are communicating in these pictures?
The Year 6s found the session very engaging and also felt that they had learnt much:
Riley - "I learnt the importance of showing respect to people with learning disabilities."
Sophie - "I now understand the difference between a learning disability and a learning difficulty."
Lily - "We must treat everyone the same and how we would want to be treated."
