On Wednesday afternoon, the whole school was treated to a real ‘Wow!’ moment when we were visited by the police helicopter operating out of Filton. The noise and sense of power as it landed were spectacular, or as Andrew in the Reception class put it, ‘INCREDIBLE’!
We had kept the visit a secret from the children, in case unforeseen emergencies prevented the pilots from visiting us as planned, so it was a particular surprise for Cameron in Y6 when he saw his dad, one of the helicopter pilots, climb from the helicopter and make his way grinning across the field towards him! The children were able to take a close look at the helicopter, and ask some questions about what it was used for. Unfortunately, we were not able to inspect it as closely as we would have liked, or to ask Mr Laird as many questions as we had hoped too, because he and his crew were actually called away to deal with a genuine situation that arose while they were talking to us.
We would like to thank Mr Laird and his colleagues for giving everyone at the school an unforgettable experience.
